Roller Derby Valentine's Day Gift Guide

Do you have a roller derby player in your life? Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I’m sure you are struggling about what to get for your partner. Here are some of my top picks for that aggressive S.O. of yours!

1. Helmet Stickers

Nothing says “I love you, baby” like getting your S.O. some fun, witty, cool helmet stickers. Surprise them with stickers that are about their interest or maybe get them their name. A great decal shop on Etsy is JammerCat – run by some of my teammates!

2. Helmets

Let’s face it, you don’t love your S.O. just because they’re a cutie patootie- you love them for that brain that’s in their big dumb heads. Have you noticed that their helmet is looking a little extra dinged up? Did they take an exceptionally hard fall in a game recently and the integrity of their helmet is questionable? Or is the helmet old and gross? Either way, there are some great websites out there that have plenty options! Some league favorites are Bruised Boutique and Derby Warehouse.

3. Wheels

I can guarantee that your partner has been lusting over some new wheels. Some league favorites are Day of the Dead wheels and Radar Halos. I suggest before purchasing talking with your S.O. as your partner has hardness preferences. Just don't be like me and only order a pack of 4 wheels- remember we need 8 wheels total to hit the track!

4. Some Cool Bout-Wear

Derby is without a doubt on its way to becoming a more professional sport. However, there is always going to be that flair that comes with derby. If your S.O.’s league has fun-themed bouts or if they like to participate in themed open scrimmages, you know the perfect Boutfit is important. An item that I have been lusting after are those beautiful sequin shorts from Derby Kiss.

Also, don’t under estimate the power of cool socks or t-shirts. If you’re S.O. is quirky and fun, then they’ll definitely appreciate some derby themed tops that can be found all over the place like on Etsy. Some players prefer to let their personality shine through interesting socks too! Check out different vendors on Amazon for some options!

5. Gear Spray

Be honest, sometimes your S.O. comes home smelling like the armpits of at least 12 other people. You glance over at their derby bag with fear in your eyes and you swear you can see the stink emanating off of it. Save yourself with some nice smelling gear spray. Clorox Odor Defense is a team favorite but Derby Warehouse also has some great options.

6. Skate Laces

You may not be able to afford buying your partner new skates, but you can get them some new laces! We recommend buying them waxed hockey laces which are available at sites listed above!

7. Miniature First-Aid Kit

It’s no secret that roller derby is an aggressive sport. In the event of an emergency, pick up your little bruiser a miniature first-aid kit. They’re available mostly everywhere and they come stocked with Band-Aids, Advil, and all of that good stuff.

8. Personalized Everything

What’s better than getting some cool gifts? Cool gifts with your name on them! There’s nothing better than the gift of personalized goodies. Get your S.O. anything with their derby name on it and they’ll love it! Not sure what to get them? You can order shirts, arm bands, water bottles, brass knuckles, fanny packs- the options are endless!

I hope this helps you please the derby person in your life!
